Date Center Forum

Published on: 8th July, 2026

Virginia is second only to Texas in the number of AI data centers located within a state's borders. These centers have raised concerns about environmental impacts. They also have raised questions about the transparency with which they are introduced into communities and their ultimate claims of job production and economic development. Mike McGurr, a community facilitator from Bristol, helped organize a recent community forum on the topic of data centers coming to Southwest Virginia. He joins host Dirk Moore in the studio to talk about the forum and what it revealed.
